Hey all!

So random - I apparently reached the GMAIL label limit and so I was going through my archives and found some old Cyberquest forum stuff.. and here I am... and here you are?!  What are the chances??

I'm glad to see everyone is doing well after all these years (man they fly by!)

I am married now for almost 9 years, and have a 5 year old girl (almost 6) who will be starting kindergarten in less than 2 weeks.   I am still in Wisconsin, living in Mequon here with the fam not too far from where I grew up!   So far we've managed to avoid COVID and have remained healthy, but we have been super careful (our daughter did Virtual 4K Schooling).

I have been with my firm now for just over 21 years, all of which have been in IT (Service Desk Tech, Platform Analyst, Service Desk Team Lead).  As of June of 2021, I've transitioned into the Private Wealth Management business and am a technology connectivity consultant, a new role that gives me the autonomy to solution for known (or not immediately known) gaps in technology for the sector.  So far it's been absolutely great, and I'm in a happier and healthier place.

Rob, if I remember correctly - did you go to LaCrosse and live in Drake Hall??  I faintly remember playing half-life on your RivaTNT card (or maybe it was a Riva 128?) - if that's even you?!

Anyways, cheers to the 'good old days' of LAN parties with the BEST CRTs and Pentium processors!

Holy shit does that bring back some memories! Having worked in PC retail pretty much that whole time from '96-'00 (Milwaukee PC, Best Buy [fuck that place]), I've seen pretty much all of those parts and had them in my hands at one point or another.

It's a damn shame I wasn't as much of a data hoarder then as I am now: I would have a complete archive of all old software and files and emails and all that shit. I really wish I had kept my old Pentium 120; that thing was a beast of untold proportions with it's few megabytes of RAM and Orchid Righteous 3D accelerator card next to the Diamond Stealth for 2D acceleration. I was one of the only kids on my block with a system that could play high (today: crap) quality video under Windows (3.11 for Workgroups) in full screen (800x600, because 1024x768 interlaced was too hard to see on my 14" CRT  )

For sure!  I've been collecting this stuff for a few years now - fun building these retro machines!  I remember playing that Terminator game at your house - you on your P120/Orchid Righteous 3d/Roland SoundCanvas and me on my P75+overdrive/Orchid Righteous 3d/Ensoniq SoundScape.  You used to put the Terminator 2 soundtrack on full blast and loop the "Escape Theme" over and over while we played multiplayer.  Driving those jeeps around was so damn fun!
